Four Seasons Seniors Citizens gather for December meeting
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Senior Citizens held their December meeting at Undo's.
President Gene Viola opened the meeting. Tony LaRosa gave the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "God Bless America." He also gave the closing prayer.
Committee reports were read.
Birthdays were acknowledged. A report on cards sent was given.
New member Marilyn Izzy was welcomed.
Ron Fallert won the 50-50 drawing, and John Corrigan won the door prize. Undo's gift certificates went to Martha Varitek and Carol Orlando. Other prize winners were Gene Viola, John Corrigan, Jose Cekinovich, Barb Libengood, Jeannette Panebianco. Poinsettia flowers went to John Corrigan, Norma Yoho, Helen Baine, Valarie Rowland, Lola Starvaggi, Regina Truax, Jeannette Panebianco, Jose Cekinovich and Carolyn Shaffer.
The next meeting will be held Jan. 19.
Weirton Senior Center to host 'giant book sale' Wednesday
WEIRTON -- The Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., Weirton, will be hosting "a giant book sale" on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Tammy Margetic, center director.
Hardback books are $1, and paperbacks will be 50 cents. Puzzles will be for sale, two for $1. All proceeds benefit the center's operation. The sale is open to the public. There will not be a bake sale this month, according to Margetic.
School retirees plan first lunch of the new year for Jan. 13
STEUBENVILLE -- Nineteen retirees of Steubenville City Schools met for lunch at Dee Jay's in Weirton on Dec. 9.
Christmas cards were signed for those not able to come. Those who brought a Christmas gift got to pick a gift from the table. The group had a successful collection for its Christmas charity for needy adults, it was noted, and expressed appreciation to all who donated.
The first lunch of the new year will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Naples.
Library makes plans for
January programming
STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has the following programs and activities planned:

Children: Stop in to make a craft on Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
Adults and Teens: Solve a mystery at the library. From Jan. 3-8 adults and teens can visit the library to help solve "The Midnight Murder" at the library. Each person will receive a story and clues to solve the mystery among the library shelves. Each correct entry will be placed into a drawing.
This will be happening during the same dates at the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Branch, (740) 769-2090.

Adults: Game Night is back, offering an evening of fun and fellowship is planned for Jan. 6 at 6 p.m.
