Valley Hospice employees donate to local charities

RAYLAND -- The COVID-19 pandemic has left many charities wondering how they will make ends meet.
In an effort to help, Valley Hospice officials noted they are proud to announce that they recently presented eight local charitable organizations with donations as a part of its Together We Can initiative. The donations totaled $2,400 and were a result of employee jeans day contributions.
"Valley Hospice employees are committed to giving back to the communities we serve and live in," said Cynthia Bougher, CEO. "As a nonprofit organization, we know first hand the impact that COVID-19 has had and want to do our part to help."
Valley Hospice employees are permitted to wear jeans one day per week but must pay $1 each time they do so. That money is then put in a "Jeans Day Fund" and earmarked for community support.
"Our employees are incredibly generous and community-minded," Bougher said.
Charities that received funding include: Salvation Army, Bellaire; Salvation Army, Brooke County; Salvation Army, Weirton; Salvation Army, Moundsville; the Children's Home of Wheeling, Wheeling; the Soup Kitchen, Wheeling; Urban Mission Ministries, Steubenville; and the Cancer Dietary Initiative, Steubenville.
