Gyro sale set for Tuesday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox
STEUBENVILLE -- Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society will host its monthly sale of gyros from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the church, located at 300 S. Fourth St.
Gyros are $8 each. There will be a 25 cent charge for extra tzatziki sauce.
The kouroulakia (twist cookies) are $7 a dozen.
There is free delivery on orders of four or more gyros. Orders will be accepted the day of the sale by phone to (740) 282-9835 or fax at (740) 282-2091.
Allowing a minimum of 20 minutes to process phone or fax orders is asked.
Edwin Stanton Questers have Christmas meeting, home tour
STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Edwin M. Stanton Chapter 1412 of Questers met at J.C. Wine Cellars in East Springfield for their Christmas meeting.
President Becky Swickard conducted a brief business meeting. Before luch, Swickard gave the blessing.
Next, the group gathered at the 120-year-old home of Sharon Rairigh to view her Christmas decorations. "Every place you looked, it was decorated with Santas, Christmas trees and lovely nativity scenes," a spokesperson noted. "Sharon displayed many antique items. So many things brought back memories of Christmas to the members."
Hostesses for the day were Dona Fisher and Lois Bickerstaff.
Hostesses for the Jan 27 meeting will be Merrilee Thomas and Pam Thomas.
Focus in Toronto announces
Christmas parade winners
TORONTO -- Focus in Toronto, the volunteer group behind the Toronto Christmas Parade, has announced winning floats and performance groups for the procession.
Winning floats were sponsored by Images Hair Salon, first place; Main Street Bank, second place; and Lisa's Dance Elite, third place.
Winning performance groups were the Deb-U-Let Twirlers, first place; and Lisa's Dance Elite, second place.
Brooke County Veteran of Year applications being accepted
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park Foundation is accepting applications for its Brooke County Veteran of the Year.
Applications can be obtained between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Brooke Hills Park clubhouse. For information, call (304) 670-6471.
The honoree will be recognized at the foundation's annual dinner-dance, which will return May 7 and feature music by Easy Street. Ticket information is forthcoming.
