Ohio Valley BPW schedules first 2022 meeting for Jan. 18
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women will hold its first meeting of 2022, gathering Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at Valley Wine Cellar at 825 Main St., Wintersville
The cost of $15 includes three kinds of flatbread pizza, two cheeseboards and wine. Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by Jan. 14.

Members attending are asked encouraged to pay their $40 dues. The meeting will include voting on the budget and reviewing minutes.
The BPW is planning its key fundraiser for scholarships with the April 22 Wine and Show Extravaganza on April 22 at St. Francis Center in Follansbee.
Newcomers are welcome to attend. "Anyone can join the Ohio Valley Business and Professional Woman's Club, actively working or retired," Riccadonna noted.
Officers aside from Riccadonna are Amelia Taggart, vice president; Julie Decker, treasurer, and Mary Lou Jones, secretary.
The BPW meets on the third Tuesday of the month, usually for an evening dinner gathering.
The OVBPW's mission is "to achieve equity in the workplace for all women through advocacy, information and knowledge" and to provide professional and personal growth opportunities.
Pins for Paws fundraiser set for Jan. 23 at Holiday Lanes
WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Humane Society is hosting a Pins for Paws fundraiser that will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 at Holiday Lanes, located at 3745 Main St., Weirton.
The cost is $25 and includes shoe rental, food and "tons of fun," according to a Facebook post.

STEUBENVILLE -- During a curbside visit to the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, patrons can pick up a Grab-and-Go Hygge craft for adults on Jan. 17 while supplies last.
"Stop in any library location to pick up a Hygge craft or food-related kit," encouraged Jennifer Cesta, the library system's public relations coordinator. "Hygge is a Danish art of finding joy and comfort in the small things despite the cold and grey outside," Cesta explained.

Southern gospel family to
perform at Jan. 23 service
WEIRTON -- The Needhams, an acclaimed Southern Gospel family known for their versatility, traditional and progressive family harmony, will be sharing their love of the Lord through music.
That will happen at the 10 a.m. Jan. 23 service at Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, located at 121 Ivy St.
"The community is invited and encouraged to attend," a church spokesperson noted.
Free parent resource bags
available for distribution
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke-Hancock Partners in Prevention Team, in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse West Virginia, is distributing free parent resource bags for parents of children under a year old through the Brooke County Public Library.
The bags contain diapers, diaper cream, baby soap, a thermometer, a breastfeeding/baby carrier shield and information about local agencies that assist parents.

Steubenville Saddle Club plans awards banquet for Feb. 13
RICHMOND -- The Steubenville Saddle Club met Jan. 4 at the club grounds to finalize plans for the awards banquet next month.
It will be held Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at Four Seasons Ministry Community Center, located at 129 School St. in the former Pleasant Hill Elementary School off state Route 213, Steubenville.
The meeting and banquet will include the election of officers for the 2022 season along with award presentations for the 2021 show season.
The banquet will take the place of the club's February meeting.
Show dates for the 2022 show season at the club grounds, located at 8675 state Route 152 N., Richmond, are May 8, June 19, July 17 and Sept 11.
The rain-or-shine shows begin at 9 a.m. with halter/showmanship classes. Contest classes do not begin before 3 p.m. The showbills will be posted on the club's Facebook page.
