RAYLAND -- Mary Guisti of Rayland celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 14.

Because of the coronavirus, the celebration was held at her home with immediate family attending -- son Kirk, daughter Debbie Woods and son-in-law Mel Woods and their "very special dog" Rocco.

Toronto Sunrise Seniors

hold opening 2022 meeting

TORONTO -- The Toronto Sunrise Seniors held their first meeting of the new year at the Karaffa Recreation complex in Toronto on Jan. 14.

President Barbara Pritts welcomed members and read a brief poem entitled "Thank You" as the blessing for the covered-dish meal.

Afterward, Pritts thanked the January kitchen committee that includes Nancy Bodrog, Paul Sherwood, Louie Nelson, Phyllis Smith and Marion Wilson. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Laura Sheets conducted the roll call of officers and read a summary of the December Christmas party. Judy Sabol, treasurer, gave the financial report, and Social Secretary Marlene Garrett acknowledged January birthdays and anniversaries. She announced that Bill and Mary Edwards, Bill Black and Peggy Nordenger are on the February kitchen committee. Four members were remembered when the health report was given.

For fun, members participated in a trivia game entitled "Winter Snow." Joe Radvansky, Paul Zink and Sharen Peters were recognized for their knowledge of snow and the winter season. The 50-50 drawings were won by Don Pritts and Bob Deku.

Members played bingo after the meeting's adjournment. Radvansky called the numbers. Winners for the evening included Marcella McKnight, Betty Mosser, Bodrog, Lucy Timko, Bob Deku, Zink, Mary Lou Deku, Marsha McConnell, Paul Sherwood, Garrett and Frank Marino.

The next meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Jan. 28. All senior citizens are welcomed.
