Library announces reopening to in-person visits, except …
STEUBENVILLE -- On Monday, the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is reopening its doors to in-person visits, with the exception of the Schiappa Branch.
The Schiappa Branch will remain temporarily operating from curbside service until further notice, due to staffing challenges caused by illnesses.
Library branches will offer in-person programs for adults. Programs for children, however, are postponed until further notice in an effort to stop the spread of COVID and its variants.
"The library doesn't feel it is possible to properly socially distance children during these programs and does not want to risk the health of our youngest library users," explained Jennifer Cesta, the library's public relations coordinator.
Curbside hours for the Schiappa Branch are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Call the library at (740) 264-6166 for information and services.

Weir High Class of 1970
having meeting Wednesday
WEIRTON -- The Weir High Class of 1970 will hold its monthly dinner on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Mario's Restaurant, located at 3806 Main St.
The class picnic will be discussed. All classmates and their spouses are invited to attend.
Ohio Valley BPW's Feb. 15

STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women hope February's weather cooperates and makes possible its first meeting of the new year.
The organization's Jan. 18 meeting was canceled because of inclement weather.
Next up is the Feb. 15 meeting, which will be get under way at 6 p.m. at Valley Wine Cellar at 825 Main St., Wintersville. The cost of $15 includes three kinds of flatbread pizza, two cheeseboards and wine.

Mary Decker, owner of Valley Wine Cellar, will be the guest speaker and explain how she started her business.
Members attending are asked encouraged to pay their $40 dues. The meeting will include voting on the budget and reviewing minutes.
The BPW is planning its key fundraiser for scholarships with the Wine and Show Extravaganza on April 22 at St. Francis Center in Follansbee.
Newcomers are welcome to attend. "Anyone can join the Ohio Valley Business and Professional Woman's Club, actively working or retired," Riccadonna noted.
Officers aside from Riccadonna are Amelia Taggart, vice president; Julie Decker, treasurer, and Mary Lou Jones, secretary.
The BPW meets on the third Tuesday of the month, usually for an evening dinner gathering.
The OVBPW's mission is "to achieve equity in the workplace for all women through advocacy, information and knowledge" and to provide professional and personal growth opportunities.
'Show CASA Love' February fundraiser seeks participation
This Valentine's Day, area residents have an opportunity to show how much they love and care for children in the Ohio Valley by participating in the "Show CASA Love" fundraiser set for Feb. 7-14.
A Child's Place CASA of Brooke, Hancock and Jefferson counties -- a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for abused and neglected children -- has teamed up with local businesses and organizations to kick off its 22nd season of service by offering matching funds for seven consecutive days up until Valentine's Day.
"Every dollar that is donated to CASA by community members, either online or by check or cash, will be matched by our generous sponsors," a spokesperson explained. "Please help CASA double their donations by contributing any amount you can."
Donations can be made online at www.go.rallyup.com/ShowCASALove or dropped off (or mailed) on the date of choice at the CASA office, located at 613 Main St., Follansbee.
"We will have a daily streaming event, where we will share information on how the campaign is going, give more details about how A Child's Place CASA is helping the children of the Ohio Valley and give one lucky donor a prize each day," the spokesperson added.
The sponsor whose day raises the most money will be named "Our Valentine, and we will put together a video presentation thanking and celebrating them."

scheduled to meet Feb. 5
HOPEDALE -- The United Mine Workers of America Local No. 1304 will meet on Feb. 5 at the Hopedale American Legion, located at 48225 Rabbit Road, Hopedale.
Breakfast is at 9:30 a.m., and the meeting begins at 10 a.m.
