STEUBENVILLE -- The Salvation Army in Steubenville, formerly located at 332 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, is beginning 2022 in its new location at 325 N. Fourth St.

Residents in Steubenville who have used the services of the Salvation Army won't have a hard time finding the Corps Community Center as it is literally across the street from its former location, according to Capt. Michael Smith, corps commanding officer for the Salvation Army.

The relocation, he explained, is in partnership with the Steubenville City School District, which purchased the former Salvation Army building and will use that footprint to build a new three-story building to grow its S.T.E.M. program.

"The school district is providing the Salvation Army with its new location until a more permanent location can be identified," Smith commented.

As part of this relocation, the Salvation Army is conducting a program study to understand current and future needs of the local area. "We are excited to play a small role in the school district's vision for a new S.T.E.M. initiative. This move also gives us an opportunity to really assess how, and where, the Salvation Army can best meet the needs of our neighbors through our mission and ministry for generations to come," Smith said.

"Most importantly, we want to assure the community that there will be no disruption in the programs folks have come to rely upon us for. We will be maintaining social service programs, including our food pantry, rent and utility assistance. We also are continuing all of our Sunday worship services, discipleship and enrichment programs for adults, teens and children," he added.
