St. Joseph planning six-week
series that begins Monday
WEIRTON -- St. Joseph the Worker Parish welcomes the public to a six-week series titled "Consecration to St. Joseph."
The 33-day journey begins Monday and continues on Feb. 21, Feb. 28, March 7, March 14 and concludes on March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph.
Using the book "Consecration to St. Joseph," written by the Rev. Donald Calloway, MIC, "we will learn more about St. Joseph and the powerful intercessor that he can be for you personally, for your parish and for the universal church," a spokesperson noted.
The cost for the book is $15, and the meetings run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Grade School, located at 151 Michael Way, Weirton. To register and order a book, call Sally at the rectory at (304) 723-2054.
Agape Church having Friday
dinners during February
STEUBENVILLE -- The Agape Assembly Church at 525 Slack St., Steubenville, will be hosting a pick-up-only fundraiser dinner every Friday in February from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The dates would be Friday, Feb. 18 and Feb. 25. The spaghetti dinner includes bread and dessert for a $12 donation. There is no dining in available and limited delivery if able. For information, call (740) 219-1915.
Railroaders invited to attend
breakfast meeting on Feb. 17
CHESTER -- All railroaders are invited to attend a breakfast meeting at E.J.'s Restaurant, located at 807 Carolina Ave., set for Feb. 17.
All retired and current railroaders and crafts are welcome to attend the get-togethers that are held on the third Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. at E.J.'s.

SHS Class of 1959 alumni
planning February luncheon
STEUBENVILLE -- Alumni of Steubenville High School's Class of 1959 held a monthly luncheon in January in spite of the blustery, cold winter's day that it was.
Norina Eroshevich provided a blessing for all present and for those unable to attend. Pete Barren gave an update on the SHS STEM program and new baseball/softball complex.
"Our alumni expressed support as a way of giving back to future students," a spokesperson noted.

Applications for Veteran of
the Year are being accepted
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park Foundation is accepting applications for its Brooke County Veteran of the Year.

Tuesday meeting for those
interested in annual school fair
WEIRTON -- The Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network is preparing for its 11th annual Backpack and Resource Fair, to be held for local students in August, and seeks volunteers to help plan it.
Those interested are invited to either of two meetings to be held at noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday at its office at 1300 Potomac Ave., Suite C. A lunch will be served at the noon meeting, with light refreshments offered at the evening meeting.

Senior fitness classes offered
by Brooke County Library
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength training class for older adults.
Participants start lifting light weights, usually while seated and can work at their own pace. They should bring a set of light dumbbells, a stretch band and water to drink.
The video fitness classes are held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, 844 Main St., and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, 945 Main St.
Memorial bricks make for a
Unique Valentine's Day gift
STEUBENVILLE -- Looking for something different to give someone for Valentine's Day?
A memorial brick to be placed in Fort Steuben Park in Steubenville offers a lasting demonstration of appreciation and affection, according to a news item in Historic Fort Steuben's February newsletter.
Bricks are $65 (or $50 for fort members) and include three lines of 15 characters each.
All orders must be in by month's end to be installed this summer.
"You can purchase a brick for yourself or in honor of a friend or relative or organization to be placed by the Veterans Memorial Fountain," notes the order form. For information, contact the fort at (740) 283-1787.
