Historic Fort Steuben
accepting quilts for show
STEUBENVILLE -- Historic Fort Steuben is accepting entries for its annual "Joy of Quilts" show.
A variety of quilts made by local residents will be on display at the Fort Steuben Visitor Center from April 4-18, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"We welcome entries from everyone," explained Mary Snyder of the Fort Steuben Visitor Center. "It can be a quilt or coverlet made by you or a relative, recently or long ago. We've never seen duplicates.And we will have visitors vote for their favorite quilt at $1 per vote," Snyder said.
Application forms can be picked up at the Visitor Center or printed off from a link on the website at www.oldfortsteuben.com.
"We ask for an application for each quilt and that the applications be returned to the Visitor Center by March 15," she added. "The quilts themselves should be dropped off at the Visitor Center no later than March 29."

Newview CEOS announce
meeting set for Thursday
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Newview Community Educational Outreach Service will hold its next meeting at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Hancock County Senior Services Center on Gas Valley Road.
Dinah Carpenter will present the lesson "Advanced Care Planning," explaining the difference between advance directives and medical orders, and where to locate advance care planning resources.
"The CEOS are happy to once again be able to extend an invitation to the public to join us for this very important lesson," a spokesperson noted.
Because the February meeting was canceled, members are asked to bring the items they previously collected for resource bags for local law enforcement. Travel size toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.) as well as wash cloths and towels, toothbrushes, tissues, sanitizer, wipes, Band-Aids, feminine products, etc. are welcome.

Camera club announces
'Smoke' competition winners
WINTERSVILLE -- The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club has announced the February competition winners to the theme "Smoke."
The theme category winners were: First place, Barb Momyer; second place, Michelle Stevens; and third place, Diane Bannister. The open category winners were: First place, Michelle Stevens; second place (tie), Diane Bannister and Anissa Wellington; and third place, Karen Felix. The special effects category winners were: First place, Michelle Stevens; second place, Karen Felix; and third place, Anissa Wellington.
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club welcomes anyone who has an interest in photography. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 15 at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church, 1085 Canton Road, Wintersville. There will be a discussion on Nikon mirrorless cameras and mirrorless cameras in general.
