Mingo Knights of Columbus help with Ukraine assistance
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 is helping with assistance to Ukraine.
Those wanting to make a donation by the April 8 deadline to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund can do so by sending a check to the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361, P.O. Box 217, Mingo Junction OH 43938, according to Shawn Zarych, grand knight.
Donations also can be dropped off during the Knights' fish frys being held on Fridays from 11 a/m/ to 6:30 p.m. The fsh frys are dine in or carryout with orders for that placed in advance by calling (740) 535-8037. For a full menu, visit the Mingo Knights' Facebook page.
JUHS Class of 1955 to hold
luncheon meeting March 31
STEUBENVILLE -- Members of Jefferson Union High School's Class of 1955 will hold a luncheon meeting on March 31 at 2 p.m. at Eat 'n Park in Steubenville beside the Fort Steuben Mall.
All classmates are welcome to attend.
Story hour is Wednesday at Brooke County Public Library
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will hold a story hour centered around "Don't Wake the Bear" at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary doing Easter baskets
WEIRTON -- The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary met March 14 with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order.
Prayer was offered by Chaplain MaryAnn Smith, including for individuals whose names were on a list provided by Marcy Spano. Members joined in the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by roll call.
Spano, secretary, read the minutes from the previous meeting, which were approved as read. It was noted in the treasurer's report that the audit was completed and the books are in good standing.
It was announced that dues are due.
Auxiliary members are making Easter baskets, which Spano will deliver to the Weirton Geriatric Center in April.
The women agreed to have a luncheon on May 23 at 1 p.m. with their husbands at Eat 'n Park in Weirton. The auxiliary is making a monetary donation to Urban Mission Ministries in Steubenville to benefit the homeless.
The group voted to provide Spano with needed stamps.
The 50/50 was won by Janice Raush, who donated it back to the club treasurer.
The next meeting will be held at 6 pm. at the V FW Hall in Weirton.
Area Agency on Aging is
conducting needs assessment
CAMBRIDGE -- The Area Agency on Aging, Region 9, is conducting a needs assessment as a component of the required four-year state Area Plan on Aging.
"We would like to know your opinions on what you believe our focuses should be in the years 2023-2026," noted Carol Barker, outreach and communications officer of AAA9 in a news release.
There are multiple ways to complete the needs assessment questionnaire. One is to visit the website, www.aaa9.org, where a link is located that will take people directly to the form. Or click this link to access the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AAA9. A copy also c an be obtained at the AAA9 office at 710 Wheeling Ave. in Cambridge.

Academy of Lifelong Learning
is hosting open house Saturday
STEUBENVILLE -- The Academy of Lifelong Learning is gearing up for its spring open house and next round of classes for area seniors.
The open house will be held Saturday at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 235 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, beginning at 1 p.m.
The open house will include an overview of classes planned in addition to a 50-50 drawing and a Chinese auction, with all money raised used to benefit the academy's scholarship fund. Light refreshments will be served.
The spring classes start April 4 and continue through May 12, operating on a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Membership is $60 per person per semester and $100 for a married couple, a fee that entitles members to all six weeks of classes. Members must be 55 or older.

Holy Trinity Philoptochos selling Easter bread, cookies
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, located at 300 S. Fourth St., Steubenville, is baking sweet bread for Easter.
The group also will be selling koulourakia, twist cookies. The bread is $9 a loaf, and the cookies are $7 a dozen.
The bread must be pre-ordered, and all orders need to be placed by April 3.
The pickup for the bread and cookies will be on April 13 and April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
