Bethany club receives awards

BETHANY -- The GFWC WV Bethany Woman's Club received numerous awards at the 116th-annual GFWC West Virginia State Woman's Club Convention held March 18-20 at the Greenbrier Resort where the theme was "Change Makes a Difference."

Helen Moren, GFWC WV president, represented the Bethany club, which received first-place awards in communications/public relations; women's history and resource; newsletter; and community impact contest, which will be submitted to GFWC for further judging.

Second-place awards were presented for arts and culture, environment, health and wellness and leadership. Third-place awards were given for civic engagement and outreach, domestic violence and abuse and interclub activities.

The club received first-place honors for donations to St. Jude's, March of Dimes, Pennies for Art, 1734 and Support Fund.

Moren was presented with her lifetime membership to the West Virginia Federation of Women's Club. Involved in that presentation were Terri Diamond, GFWC VW second vice president and membership, and Cathy Jo Bryant, GFWC WV president-elect.
