Auxiliary delivering Easter baskets to local veterans
WEIRTON -- The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary met April 11 with the delivery of Easter baskets to veterans being one item of discussion finalized.
President Shirley Brecht opened the meeting with prayer by Marcy Spano, secretary, and an acknowledgment of those who are ill. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.V ice President Darlene Kemp conducted roll call.
Spano reported on cards sent and read the minutes from the March meeting, which were approved. The treasurer's report was approved as read.
Easter baskets were set to delivered to veterans, including at the Carriage Inn.
The auxiliary will have a luncheon May 23 at Giovanni's Restaurant in Weirton and the annual bake-less bake sale in June.
Brecht won the 50-50 drawing, donating it back to the club treasury. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on May 9 at the VFW hall in Weirton.
Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry open April 21 for assistance
STEUBENVILLE -- Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 21. The pantry is located at Grace Lutheran Church,located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Questions can be directed to (740) 282-9064.
Fundraiser breakfast Saturday at Unionport community center
UNIONPORT -- The Wayne Township Community Center in Unionport will host a fundraiser breakfast on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The breakfast includes pancakes and sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs and toast.
Cost is by donation, and proceeds benefit the upkeep of the center.
Center of Music and Art to host charity event set for April 23
WINTERSVILLE -- The Center of Music and Art, located at 264 Main St., Wintersville, will be the site of a charity event featuring blues/rock band Measly Peace.
It will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 23 at the center and also feature performances by music teachers at the center. "Tickets are $20, and we encourage people to purchase theme here at our location in advance," noted Norm Keyser, store manager, in a news release.
"All proceeds will help children who are financially burdened to obtain music/art supplies and-or tuition," he added.

Veterans Park dinner-dance scheduled to return on May 7
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park dinner-dance will return May 7 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.
The Brooke County Veteran of the Year will be recognized, and Easy Street will provide music.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner by the staff of St. Francis Centre at 7 p.m. and music from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. There also will be door prizes and a 50-50 drawing.
