Order of A.H.E.P.A. to

celebrate 100 years of service

WEIRTON -- The Order of A.H.E.P.A. will be celebrating a century of service when the Hancock Chapter No. 103 holds its 100th anniversary dinner on Tuesday at the All Saints Greek Church Hellenic Memorial Hall in Weirton.

Jimmy Kokotas, the national supreme president of the order, will be in attendance along with National Executive Director Basil Mossaidis; past Supreme President George E. Loucas; Buckeye District 11 Gov. John Karipides; past Supreme Gov. Socratis Kolitsos; and past Buckeye 11 District Gov. Tasos Kalantzis.

Another highlight of the evening will be the recognition of 29 members with 25 to 68 years of service to the Hancock Chapter No. 103 in Weirton.

Brooke Hills Park to hold

Mother's Day event

WELLSBURG -- Brooke Hills Park invites mothers and daughters to paint together and enjoy muffins Saturday at the Bald Eagle Shelter.

An artist will lead participants in completing either of two paintings, one designed for adults and another for children.

The cost is $25 for painters and $5 for non-painters. Reservations should be made by calling (304) 737-1236.

Choir and concert bands to perform May 12 at CCHS

STEUBENVILLE -- The spring concert featuring the Bishop John King Mussio Junior High Choir, BJKM Junior High and Catholic Central High School concert bands will be held May 12 in Lanman Hall at CCHS.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation, and tickets will be available for a 50/50 drawing for a handmade blue and yellow quilt.

American Legion Legacy Run is beginning in Follansbee

FOLLANSBEE -- A motorcycle run benefiting the children of disabled or fallen military veterans will start at the Follansbee American Legion Post at 998 Main St. at about 8 a.m. May 19.

Riders in the 2022 American Legion Legacy Run will circle the state, making overnight stops in Barboursville, Lewisburg and Charles Town, before concluding the three-day run in Morgantown.

It's the second year for the run, which raises money for a scholarship fund for the children of disabled or fallen veterans that has been supported with more than $20.5 million in donations since 2006.

Area residents are invited to observe the run and if they live along its route, raise a U.S. flag in honor of the veterans they represent.
