CWU Friendship Day celebration held

WEIRTON -- "It's Up to You in 2022" was the theme of Church Women United's May Friendship Day celebration, which was held May 6 at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly Church.

Rebecca "Tish" Turner served as program coordinator.

Gerri Harbaugh welcomed those in attendance, including 15 delegates and five guests with eight churches represented. Harbaugh read the history of May Friendship Day.

Joyce Summers opened with a responsive prayer.

Helen Jeter performed a candle-lighting in memory of the group's deceased sisters, followed with a reading by Joann Redd titled "Every Moment Is Precious."

Pastor Judy Thomes of First Baptist Church was the guest speaker and offered the message focusing on John 13:35, "to love one another with the agape love of Jesus."

The project was the collection of personal hygiene products for the Lighthouse. Diane Pastoric introduced Sarah Hilditch from the Lighthouse to receive the items. Hilditch expressed gratitude on behalf of the recipients. Turner closed the meeting with prayer and blessed the food. Lunch was served, prepared by Jeter and Turner.
