Mingo club welcomes auditor

MINGO JUNCTION -- The GFWC Woman's Club of Mingo Junction held its April meeting at Bay Six Conference Room on Commercial Street, Mingo Junction.

Vice President Stephanie Rouse presided, extending the welcome. The opening prayer was given by Roetta Lewis. The club collect and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag followed.

Rouse introduced guest speaker E.J. Conn, who has served as Jefferson County's auditor for the past three years. He overviewed goals and aspirations.

Reports were given by Lewis and Kathy Maguschak. Mary Jane Tiberio read correspondence, which included thank-you acknowledgments and requests for donations.

Fundraisers were discussed.

Donations were given by the club and members to the Bay 6 Easter food baskets project.

Four members attended Southeast District Legislation Day in Cambridge. They were Sharon Cole-Isner, Rouse, Lewis and Janet Petrella.

The Mingo Club will be hosting the Southeast District Fall Conference, which will be held in Cambridge in October.

Members planted Child Abuse Prevention pinwheels in town in observance of April being Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.

Members made a decision to meet in June and August but take July off.

Rouse will serve as the chairman of the Wreaths Across America which will be observed on Dec. 17. This will be a project of the club.

Members were encouraged to vote on Election Day.

Hostesses for the evening were Lewis and Petrella.

The club will not be having a May banquet this year.

The next meeting will be held May 12 with Cole-Isner as the hostess. It will be held at Bay 6.
