EAST SPRINGFIELD -- Winners in East Springfield's Memorial Day parade of approximately 45 participants on May 30 have been announced.
There were first-, second- and third-place prizes awarded at $50, $35 and $20, respectively, in the following categories -- floats, cars/trucks, tractors, horses and novelty.
Category winners were:
– Floats: Carry Out Express, first; Christ United Methodist Church, second; and East Springfield Community Center, third.
– Cars/Trucks: Dale DeVore, first; Ron and Becky Ramsey, second; and Glenn Dornbusch, third.
– Novelty: Jeff and Charlene Mencer, first; Josie and Christal Wilson, second; and Ron Stone, third.
– Tractors: Rob Alloggia, first; Nick Ramsey, second; and Brent Griffith, third.
– Horses: Donna Huber, first; Aric Davis, second; and Ron Waggoner, third.
Ron Martin, a Korean War veteran and lifelong resident of East Springfield, served as the parade's grand marshal.
The service speaker was Jerry Works, lay leader at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church in East Springfield.
Following the service, a covered-dish dinner with hots dogs and ice provided by the East Springfield Community Center was served at the center.
