Weirton Seventh-Day Adventist
Church plans three-day sale
WEIRTON -- Members of the Weirton Seventh-Day Adventist Church will host a community indoor sale at its 600 Colliers Way location across from Weirton Medical Center.
The three-day sale runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Since church services are held on Saturday with adult Sabbath School at 9:30 a.m. and service at 11 a.m., there will be no sale on Saturday.
This marks the second time the local church has put together an event like this, the first one having been in October 2020. MaryJo Long, a church member and an event coordinator, said the last event was a success and hopes are that area residents will find some items for a bargain and support the local church which, unlike other denominations, does not host annual festivals to raise money.
"We're going to have a lot of great stuff," said Long, noting household items available include glassware and appliances, toys and games, books, furniture and garage items.
The sale will occur mostly indoors with some items outside under a canopy, weather permitting. Proceeds will benefit improvement projects at the church, one of which is the carpeting in the sanctuary which is the original carpeting from the 1970s when the church was built.
