STEUBENVILLE — Urban Mission Ministries Inc., in partnership with the Sycamore Youth Center and Hertz/Thrifty Car Rental of Steubenville, is in the midst of the fourth year of the Mobile Summer Food Pantry program.

The 10-week program available to children kicked off June 3 and continues every Friday through Aug. 5, according to Cynthia Lytle, director of strategic partnerships and community engagement, Urban Mission Ministries.

Free for all participating children ages 1-18 with no sign-ups necessary, the Mobile Summer Food Panty will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Times vary for each pantry stop, and parents and children should check delivery times for the nearest pantry stop.

With the food comes the opportunity to browse through the bookmobile of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County as it has a presence at all the stops, which are:

– Ridgewood Place Apartments, Wintersville, 11:25 a.m.

Bobbyjon Bauman and Cynthia Lytle, second from right, are shown with Sycamore Youth Center representatives Audrey Shannon, left, and Sarah Stroup, who are involved in the outreach.

– Briarwood Apartments, Wintersville, 11:55 a.m.

– Elmer White Family Units, North End, Steubenville, 12:20 p.m.

– Earl Rogers Plaza, South End, Steubenville, 12:47 p.m.

– Water Tower, corner of Carnegie Street and Maryland Avenue, Steubenville, 1:10 p.m.

Although not an official pantry stop, the Snack Corner at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center will have grab-and-go items provided by the mobile pantry for children to take at their leisure.

Bobbyjon Bauman of the Sycamore Youth Center is shown with Jennifer Cesta, left, and Sarita Asawa of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, as its bookmobile has an accompanying presence at all the food pantry stops.

Additional pantry stops will be designated for summer camps and vacation bible schools.

Food items for the mobile pantry are made available through community contributions and sponsorships. Transportation is made possible through Hertz/Thirty Car Rental of Steubenville and the Sycamore Youth Center.

For information on the pantry or for volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, contact Lytle by phone at (740) 282-8010 or by e-mail at clytle@urbanmission.org.
