The John Colesante Memorial Scholarship is funded by Elane Colesante Renzelli in memory of her brother, a 1964 Madonna High graduate who died May 22, 2019. One scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria: Graduating senior from Madonna High School; displays strong Christian values and looks to make a difference in the world around him/her; and demonstrates that assistance is needed; and an anonymous summary essay reviewed by the selection committee that includes Renzelli, Les Halapy, Jim Pauchnik and Mike Runkel. This year's winner is Sofia-Teresa DiBacco, shown with Pauchnik, a 1964 Madonna High graduate. DiBacco will attend West Virginia University, majoring in biology and philosophy in preparation for a medical career.
