'Class of 70 turns 70' picnic

WEIRTON -- The Weir High Class of 1970 will hold its monthly dinner meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Gee's, located at 1229 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.

All classmates are invited to attend.

Final plans for the "Class of 70 turns 70" picnic will be made. All classmates should have received the information through the mail or class e-mail.

The class picnic will be held on Aug. 6 at the Marland Heights shelter from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. An ice breaker will be held at Gee's Pub and Cafe beginning at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5.

Brooke County Library to hold story hour on Wednesday

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Library will present an under the sea story hour, led by Kim Harless, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

It will include a story involving sea turtles, songs, crafts and a snack.

Wednesday 'chicken blasts'

at Serbian Picnic Grounds

WEIRTON -- "Chicken blasts," a local tradition and fundraiser in place for decades, continues on Wednesdays through Aug. 31.

The Serbian Men's Club is holding these every Wednesday at the Serbian Picnic Grounds of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church. The picnic grounds are located on Kings Creek Road in Weirton.

Orders for the hearth-cooked, slow-roasted poultry may be called in from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to (304) 748-9866 the day of the sales.

Orders must be picked up by 6 p.m. The price this year is $10.
