Annual Hooverson Heights Hilltoppers Reunion scheduled for July 31 at Follansbee Park
FOLLANSBEE -- The annual Hooverson Heights Hilltoppers Reunion will be held on July 31 at the Community House at Follansbee Park, beginning at 1 p.m.
All residents of the Hooverson Heights area of Follansbee are invited to attend the reunion and are asked to bring a covered dish. Beverages, table service and serving utensils will be provided by the committee.
For years, Bob Geary and Roy Waugh were the head of the planning committee, assisted by others. Today the committee is Ruth Eckles Shingleton and Cathi Caldwell. The reunion was initiated decades ago by the Brindley, Bullock and Krystynak famiiles and dates back to the 1920s.
"Everyone is invited to come and join in an afternoon of visiting and reminiscing with old friends," Shingleton noted.
Weir High Class of 1967
to meet Thursday at Gio's
WEIRTON -- The Weir High Class of 1967 will hold a luncheon on Thursday, beginning at noon at Gio's Family Restaurant, located at 3013 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.
All classmates and spouses are welcome to attend.
Dance band to perform at
Follansbee Park on July 25
FOLLANSBEE -- Local dance band Twice as Nice will perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 25 at Follansbee Park.
Their appearance is part of the Follansbee Chamber of Commerce's Monthly Monday Music Madness series of free concerts. Chamber members have been invited to sell food or other items and share information.
Storyteller to visit library
with tale of 'Mrs. Soffel'
WELLSBURG -- Storyteller Judi Tarowsky will appear at the Brooke County Library at 6 p.m. Juy 21.
A longtime news reporter and editor, Tarowsky will tell the story of "The Scandalous Mrs. Soffel: Villain or Victim?"
It is one of a variety of stories, some based on local history and some fiction, she has told.

Open air market continues
on Thursdays in Jewett
JEWETT -- An open air market is continuing on Thursdays in Jewett at 308 E. Main St. and at other times this summer and through the fall.
There will be products and goods by local artisans with free setup for vendors.

Concerts on the Deck,
Community Day this month
BURGETTSTOWN -- Paris Presbyterian Church, located at 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, continues its Concerts on the Deck series this month.
The remaining concerts begin at 6 p.m. on the following dates and involve the following performers: Sunday, the Chrisagis Brothers, and July 24, Vicky Andresis.
On July 30, the church will be hosting Community Day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Performing throughout the day will be the Ron Retzer Trio at noon followed by Songs for Revival at 2 p.m.
