Camera club announces
July competition winners
WINTERSVILLE -- The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club has announced the July competition winners to the theme "Colorful."
The theme category winners were: First place, Michelle Stevens; second place, Karen Felix; and third place, (tie) Dianne Bannister and Dave Rees. The open category winners were: First place, (tie) Michelle Stevens and Karen Felix; second place, (tie) Tami Hosterman and Dave Rees; and third place, John Hanish. The special effects category winners were: First place, John Hanish; second place, Dave Rees; and third place, Michelle Stevens.
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club welcomes anyone who has an interest in photography. All formats are welcomed -- medium, film, DSLR, mirrorless, smartphone, bridge, compact digital, 360 and instant.
The camera club's next meeting will be held on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church, located at 1085 Canton Road, Wintersville.

Community yard sale
at East Springfield Center
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Community Recreation and Service Center will host community yard sale on Aug. 11-13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Setup is free, but donations are appreciated. Food will be available.

SHS Class of 1957 having
65-year reunion on Sept. 1
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Class of 1957 will hold its 65-year reunion on Sept. 1 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Scaffidi's Restaurant in Steubenville.
The reunion offers an evening buffet, casual afternoon and cash bar. The cost is $35 per person. Checks can be sent to Donna Cocumelli Lucas at 743 0xford Blvd., Steubenville OH 43952.
Ron Retzer Trio entertains
Four Seasons Seniors group
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Seniors held their July meeting at Undo's.
Tony LaRosa gave the opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "God Bless America."
Dinner was a picnic buffet, which was followed by music by the Ron Retzer Trio.
Committee reports and the reading of minutes were suspended.
Pat Beltrame won the 50-50 drawing. Undo's gift cards went to Ron Fallart and Nancy Fridley. Gloria Rowland won the special door prize. Other winners were Tom Maxwell, Barb Cerra and Norma Yoho.
The next meeting will be held on Aug. 17.
LaRosa gave the closing prayer.
Boys from the Blocks cruise-in set for Saturday in Amsterdam
AMSTERDAM -- The second-annual Boys from the Blocks cruise-in will be held Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rogers Park in Amsterdam.
There is a $5 care entry fee. The first 75 entrees get a dash plaque. There will be food trucks, a DJ, vendors, a Chinese auction, door prizes and a 50-50 drawing. All proceeds go to the Amsterdam Volunteer Fire Department and Police Department.
Rain date is Oct. 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The fundraiser is in memory of John "Tizzy" Tiziani.
'From Garden to Pantry'
workshop series continues
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Hancock County Community Educational Outreach Service will be offering the second workshop in its "From Garden to Pantry" food preservation series on Aug. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The workshop will be held at 4-H Camp Aura and cover pressure canning, which is the safest method for low-acid foods, including meats and most vegetables. Participants will prepare and process green beans which they will then be able to take home with them, along with a packet of canning information provided by the CEOS and the WVU Hancock County Extension office. The fee of $15 covers the cost of all materials plus a light working lunch.
Because class size is limited to eight participants, a pre-paid RSVP for $15 is required. Call the Hancock County Extension office at (304) 564-3805 to reserve a spot and arrange for payment.
Still to come in the "From Garden to Pantry" series is "Waterbath Canning" set for Aug. 17; "Pickles and Relishes" on Aug. 24 and "Freezing and Dehydration" on Sept. 1.
CCHS Class of 1972 making plans for 50-year reunion
STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Steubenville Catholic Central High School Class of 1972 will celebrate their 50-year class reunion Sept. 24.
The event will take place at the Steubenville Country Club, beginning at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Twice as Nice. Other activities in conjunction with the reunion are planned throughout the weekend.

Library, Extension partner to provide some computer help
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library has teamed with the West Virginia University Extension Service to aid anyone needing help in creating an e-mail account, establishing a secure computer password, using PowerPoint and other computer applications and downloading e-books available through the library.
A representative of the WVU Extension Service will be available from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 15 in the library's River Room. Walk-ins are welcome but those who register, by calling (304) 737-1551 or visiting https://brookecountylibs.org/programming-registration, will be aided first. Participants should bring their electronic device charged.
