NEW CUMBERLAND — President Dorothy Hawkes presided when the New Cumberland Lions Club met July 26.

Jeanne Cox gave the invocation, and Hawkes led in the Pledge of Allegiance, afterward announcing that no business would be conducted given it was the annual summer picnic.

Hawkes thanked club members Joyce Young and Sally Greathouse, both recent recipients of the Leonard Jarrett Award, for setting up the picnic that was held at the Christian Church in New Cumberland.

Hawkes announced that the club will resume the regular meeting schedule in September. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from September through May. The lone exception is December when the meeting is on the second Tuesday only.

The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the New Cumberland City Building. A board meeting is held every third Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the New Cumberland City Building. Committees are being formed.

The next meeting will be the annual steak fry on Aug. 23.
