Kitty Kochman Quarter
Auction set for Sept. 25
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Kiwanis Club is organizing the Kitty Kochman Quarter Auction fundraiser, which will be held Sept. 25 at Undo's in the Holiday Inn Weirton, 350 Three Springs Drive.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with the auction beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for one paddle with additional paddles available for $1 each.
Tickets will be sold the day of the auction but can be purchased in advance by contacting Ernie Nicholas, club president, at (304) 479-0235,
Each ticket purchased includes a chance for a door prize. There will be a 50-50 drawing and Chinese auction. Food will be available for purchase at Undo's Restaurant.
Proceeds will benefit Weirton Kiwanis Club community projects.
Catherine Ann "Kitty" Kochman had served as the club's secretary before her death on March 11, a luncheon program booklet from a Kiwanis event earlier this year had noted. It described her as "a selfless servant with a beautiful spirit."
"Kitty dedicated many tireless hours to Kiwanis projects with her goal of profits to benefit the Weirton Christian Center, the Mario Pipinos Head Start Program, Hancock County Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish, the newborns at Weirton Medical Center and Terrific Kids programs. Kitty's dedication to Kiwanis and her community exemplified 'Serving the Children of the World.'"
East Springfield Community
Center dinner is Thursday
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Community Recreation and Service Center will host a fundraiser dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
The menu will be cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread, dessert and a drink. Patrons can dine in or get take-out. The phone number is (740) 543-3700.
The cost is $10.
The center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Hall.
CCHS Class of 1972 making plans for 50-year reunion
STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Steubenville Catholic Central High School Class of 1972 will celebrate their 50-year class reunion Sept. 24.
The event will take place at the Steubenville Country Club, beginning at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Twice as Nice. Other activities in conjunction with the reunion are planned throughout the weekend.
