WMC Auxiliary having jewelry sale on Wednesday, Thursday
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a $5 Masquerade jewelry and accessories sale for two days next week.
It will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. The sale will be held in the medical center atrium located on Colliers Way. Face masks are required.
Library card most important
school supply for children
STEUBENVILLE -- With children back in the classroom, the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County suggests that they have the most important school supply -- a library card.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a reminder to use a library card to connect to reliable resources, services and programs for all ages available through the library system.
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure children sign up for their own library card.
"During the month of September, show your PLSJ card to McDonald's of Steubenville, Toronto or Wintersville and get a free small coffee, small soft drink, small fry or ice cream cone," a library spokesperson noted. This offer is redeemable for one item per card, per day
Also in September, the library is offering a one-time, $5 fine forgiveness on a person's library account.

Opening reception Thursday for local photographer's works
WELLSBURG -- "A Fine Arts Approach to Commercial Photography" was the theme and tagline for Garen DiBartolomeo's 40-year professional photography career.
Now, however, he devotes his time to the "fine-arts" side of the ledger and will be showing his work at Martha's Gallery, located at 736 Charles St., Wellsburg, starting with an opening reception on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The show runs through October.
Garen is a Weirton native whose time as a professional included career stops in the Washington, D.C., area, Phoenix and Pittsburgh. His work ranged from corporate/industrial, editorial and advertising, to stills for a vampire movie. His personal work from around the world will be featured at the gallery.
Accolades and awards for his photography include shows and books from the American Photographic Artists, the International Photography Awards and American Photography Awards.

Cloak & Dagger returning
Sept. 10 with performances
WEIRTON -- Cloak & Dagger On the Air returns with live stage performances on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, and they're bringing "the world-renowned Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson with them."
Admission is free, although donations are always appreciated. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. when R.J. Gaudio, Troubadour, will perform an opening set of classic pop, folk and rock songs. Light refreshments will be available.
At 7 p.m., Cloak & Dagger On the Air will present Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb" and "The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor" in two brand-new audio drama adaptations by playwright Pete Fernbaugh and starring audience favorites John E. Reilly as Holmes and Robert J. Gaudio as Watson with Rob DeSantis, Bethany Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Karissa Martin, Clare McDonald, Ralph Parissi and Savannah Schroll Guz.
The show will feature a score arranged, composed and performed by classical pianist Roberta Fedoush and sound effects by the Holy Foley Molies.
There also will be an original comedy skit featuring Cloak & Dagger's very own "Daphne Doolittle, the Dame with the Private Eye."
Top of WV CVB is located at 3539 Main St., Weirton. Ample parking is available behind the building, where there is an entrance. Individuals with mobility impairments may more easily enter through the building's front entrance.
Cloak & Dagger On the Air is a monthly theatrical series from the Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Co. that celebrates audio drama from all eras, particularly the fabled Golden Age of Radio. By reimagining classic radio dramas and literary works, along with presenting original stories written and produced by independent writer and actor Fernbaugh, "Cloak & Dagger On the Air strives to give audiences an immersive experience that engages the theater of their imagination in creating a fully realized storytelling adventure," a spokesperson noted.
"The Cloak & Dagger On the Air podcast completes the experience by presenting these stories in the way they were meant to be seen -- by the mind's eye."

Cops 'n Slobbers fundraiser set for Sept. 10 at St. Florian
WINTERSVILLE -- Cops 'n Slobbers, a joint fundraising event by FOP Lodge 97 and the Jefferson County Humane Society, will be held Sept. 10 at St. Florian Event Center, 286 Luray Drive, Wintersville.
Doors open at 1 p.m. with drawings beginning at noon and the final drawing at 6 p.m.
Tickets can be obtained in person, by phone or online. The cost is a $30 cash donation when getting a ticket in person and a $32 donation when getting a ticket online. The additional $2 donation is for online convenience and processing.
