Fort director guest speaker
for Three Score Senior Club at
its August dinner meeting
WEIRTON — The Three Score Senior Club met Aug. 24 at Undo’s Restaurant with Ed Powell, president, welcoming members and guests with the traditional Hawaiian greeting of “aloha” and a Hawaiian knock-knock joke.
Bob Shirer gave the invocation, leading the group in prayer, followed by Powell leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. Members joined in singing “God Bless America.”
Powell introduced speaker Paul Zuros, executive director of Historic Fort Steuben, and author of a bimonthly “History in the Hills” column that appears in the Valley Life section of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times. Zuros is compiling the 79 articles he has written into book form. He spoke primarily about the history behind Historic Fort Steuben and how it became what it is today.
