Weirton Heights Church plans fall gospel meetings Oct. 16-19
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Heights Church of Christ, located at 3169 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, will conduct its annual fall gospel meetings Oct. 16-19, featuring Evangelist Steve Higginbotham.
Raised in Chester, Higginbotham graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in 1984 (B.S. Bible). Prior to moving to Knoxville, he served as the pulpit minister in two congregations -- one in West Virginia and the other in Kentucky. He presently serves as the pulpit minister for the Karns congregation and as an adjunct faculty member of the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies.
An author and regular contributor to several brotherhood publications, Higginbotham has been in full-time ministry since 1984 and has preached at more than 250 gospel meetings and lectureships in 22 states in addition to having taught in 10 mission trips to foreign countries.
Higginbotham and his wife, Kim, have four children and one grandson.
The schedule of services and topics are:
– Oct. 16, 9:30 a.m. Bible class, "How To Be a Better Student of the Bible;" 10:30 a.m. worship, "Out of Exile: Lessons Learned from COVID;" and 6:30 p.m. worship, "Unity in the Midst of Chaos."
– Oct. 17: 7: p.m., "Digital Church: If it was Right Then, Why Not Now?"
– Oct. 18: 7 p.m., "Broken but Blessed;" and
– Oct. 19: 7 p.m., "The Day Jesus Returned."

Chili cook-off, music Oct. 30
at Warren Township Park
TILTONSVILLE -- The TBS Trinity Chili Cook-Off will be held Oct. 30 at the Warren Township Park, located at 400 Williams St., Tiltonsville.
The outdoor church service will begin at 11 and all are welcome.
A Chinese auction will be part of the event along with music by Ron Retzer. Attendees should bring a lawn chair.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Those under age 5 are admitted for free. Admission includes samples of all chili, five voting tickets, a hot dog, cookie and drink.
In case of inclement weather this will be hosted at the Martins Ferry United Methodist Church.
Rosary Rally is scheduled
for Oct. 16 in Follansbee
FOLLANSBEE -- The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Anthony Church in Follansbee will be sponsoring a Rosary Rally on Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. on Main Street in Hood's Pharmacy parking lot.
"The public is invited to honor Our Lady and to pray for the right to life and the continued freedom to pray in public," a spokesperson explained.
In case of rain, the rally will move to the church.
Weir High School Class of 1970 dinner meeting Wednesday
WEIRTON -- Members of the Weir High School Class of 1970 will have their monthly dinner on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Mario's Restaurant, located at 3806 Main St., Weirton.
All classmates and their spouses are invited to attend.
