cabbage roll sale in Toronto
TORONTO -- The Toronto Catholic Woman's Club, St. Francis and St. Joseph Churches, is sponsoring its carryout-only annual cabbage roll sale on Nov. 6 at the St. Joseph Church Hall, located at 1225 N. River Ave., Toronto.
It will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. with walk-ins or pre-orders accommodated and featuring the following:
Cabbage roll dinner with one cabbage roll, $12, or two cabbage rolls, $14. Cabbage rolls only are $5 each. Dinners include mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll and butter.

Sweet and savory pies topic
for Brooke Recipe Club
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Recipe Club will meet at noon Oct. 28 and share recipes for sweet and savory pies.
Everyone is welcome to share recipes and samples of the finished product.

Donations being accepted for Nov. 5 giveaway at area library
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Swaney Memorial Library, 210 S. Court St., New Cumberland, is hosting a fall/winter apparel switch to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 5.
This event features adult and children's clothes including coats, shoes, winter gloves and hats. Everything is free, and donations are needed.
Clean, gently-used items can be brought to the library during normal business through the week.

Library patrons can vote on staff members' costumes
WELLSBURG -- Staff with the Brooke County Public Library will again be dressing up for Halloween, and patrons are invited to vote on their favorite costumes among them.
Visitors can see the staff in person from Tuesday through Oct. 31 and photos of them from Nov. 1 through 8 and may vote at the Wellsburg or Follansbee locations or through the Brooke County Public Library and Follansbee Branch Facebook page.

WINTERSVILLE -- The Wintersville High School Class of 1959 held its bi-yearly dinner on Oct. 13 at Scaffidi's Restaurant in Steubenville.

Adena Lions Club hosting
Halloween Walk on Wednesday
ADENA -- The Adena Lions Club is hosting a Halloween Walk on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hannah Avenue and Main Street.
Children 12 and younger are invited to participate in the walk that will start at St. Casimir Church.
At the first treat station sponsored by the Adena Lions Club, participants will receive a treat bag, a map with the names of the sponsors and one ticket for each station.
Children will stop at the treat stations spaced along the route to receive a treat, according to a news item in the club's October newsletter.
