Constitution, Wreaths Across America topic for Mingo club

MINGO JUNCTION -- The GFWC Woman's Club of Mingo Junction held its September meeting at Bay 6 in Mingo Junction.
Co-President Stephanie Rouse presided at the meeting, gave the welcome and led the members in the club collect, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
The opening prayer was given by Shelly Bateman, who introduced guest speaker J.O. Henry, who grew up in the Irondale area, is married and has three sons and one granddaughter.
He served for 27 years in the Army and Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of 1st Sergeant. Henry serves as commander of the Richmond American Legion Post 740, Honored Seven, and has done extensive research identifying who the "Honored Seven" were.
Henry spoke about the Constitution and the Federalist Papers in addition to the website patriotacademy.com, noting it is a good resource for information about the Constitution and its biblical foundation. A question-and-answer period followed.
Rouse gave the treasurer's report. It was announced that the lottery drawing will be done at the December meeting.
Discussion was held on again selling Rada products. It was tabled until a later date.
Rouse, chairman, reported on the Wreaths Across America club project. A wreath is $15. The wreaths will be live balsam wreaths and be placed on veterans' graves at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction on Dec. 17.
Rouse and Janet Petrella provided the refreshments. Roetta Lewis was in charge of decorations. Since the speaker spoke on the Constitution, a patriotic theme was used.
The next meeting will be held Oct. 13 at Bay 6.
