On her first day as president of the Steubenville Kiwanis Club, Cookie West, right, presented a check for $500 to the Rev. Ashley Steele, executive director of Urban Mission Ministries. The club made the donation in appreciation of the mission allowing the Kiwanis to use its warehouse for its annual rose sale distribution held on Sept. 20. In making the presentation, West, on behalf of the club, expressed appreciation to all those who supported the Kiwanis' key fundraiser once again by purchasing roses. The club sold 985 dozen long-stemmed, boxed roses, earning a profit of approximately $8,000 which will be used to support the club's three high school Key Clubs and youth service projects throughout the year, according to Tom Timmons, club treasurer.
