Mingo Knights to host dinner Sunday that's free for veterans
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361, 117 Legion Drive, Mingo Junction, will host a free pasta dinner for all veterans on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Veterans attending must show their ID.
The dinner, however, is open to the public. The cost is $10 and comes with salad, bread and cake. Credit cards can be used now.

Follansbee Community Days
quarter auction on Sunday
FOLLANSBEE -- Follansbee Community Days Committee will host a fundraiser quarter auction on Sunday at the Follansbee Community House.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the auction begins at 1:30 p.m. Admission of $5 includes the first paddle. There will be a Chinese auction and a 50-50 drawing.
All monies received will help fund the entertainment for Follansbee Community Days' 30th anniversary in July.
Weirton Legion Auxiliary plans
fundraiser breakfast Sunday
WEIRTON -- The Weirton American Legion Auxiliary will host a breakfast Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the post, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.
This month's menu will feature scrambled eggs, potatoes, homemade sausage gravy over biscuits, coffee and orange juice. The cost is $8. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas will be available for purchase.
"The public is invited to help support our veterans," a spokesperson noted.
Adena Lions Club accepting orders for roses, carnations
ADENA -- The Adena Lions Club members are continuing to take orders through Nov. 16 for its annual fundraiser rose and carnation sale.
The cost is $20 for a dozen roses available in red, pink, yellow and assorted. The carnations are $20 a dozen as well, available in red, pink, white and assorted. Checks can be made payable to the Adena Lions Club.

Holiday bazaar happening
Nov. 19 at Wintersville church
WINTERSVILLE -- A holiday bazaar sponsored by Let's Fight Together will be held Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wintersville Community Chapel, located at 27 Ward Drive, Wintersville.
There will be vendors and crafters, and the kitchen will be open to offer food.
All proceeds from the kitchen will go to 91four, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that "provides a place of refuge and hope for teenage girls trying to escape the dangerous slums of Kampala, Uganda. 91four is a full-time residential, three-year educational, vocational and discipleship training program."

Quarter auction on Nov. 19
to benefit Refuge for Women
STEUBENVILLE -- A quarter auction to benefit Refuge for Women will be held Nov. 19 at Four Seasons Community Center, 129 School St., Steubenville, the former Pleasant Hill Elementary School.
Doors open at noon, and the auction begins at 1 p.m. Admission is $5. Extra paddles are $2 or three for $5.
There will be wood crafts, candles, floral, baked goods, skin care, crochet and other vendors in addition to Chinese auction items and a Christmas flea market. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Three Score Seniors Club
to swear in officers Dec. 15
WEIRTON -- The Three Score Seniors Club met in October at Undo's in Weirton with President Ed Powell welcoming members and guests.
Bob Shirer gave the meeting's The invocation and benediction.
Powell led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, and the group sang "God Bless America."
Sandra Briggs, program chairman and vice president, introduced the evening's entertainment, the group Friends, a Christian music group made up of local musicians from various churches. Two of the songs performed were "Jesus, What a Wonderful Child" and "Blessings."
Reports were given by Secretary Cindy Richards and Treasurer George Puhlman.
Membership Chairman Brenda Edwards reported she distributed reminder letters about dues for 2023. The membership remains at 79.
A sunshine report on cards sent was given. A member's birthday was acknowledged.
House Chairman Kathy McCarrick decorated the tables in a Halloween theme.
Reservations Chairman Vivian Weigel reported that there were 47 members and two guests present. She reminded members that because of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the November and December meetings would be held a week earlier than normal. The menu for November was noted.
Historian Lee Edwards reported that there were up-to-date albums available to see.
Under new business, Powell announced that the nominating committee was selected by the board and will be looking to fill the offices of vice president, secretary and treasurer. New officers will be sworn in on Dec. 15.
Under prize drawings, Lee Edwards and Larry Purks drew blue ticket numbers for the 50/25/25 drawing, which was won by Sandra Briggs and Nancy Smurda. Jim Hare and Lee Edwards drew the red tickets, and winners were Karen Welsh, Linda Kennedy, Harry Mack and Nancy Smurda. Brenda Edwards drew green tickets for the free dinner, won by Lea Shirer and Joann Kerr. She also drew tickets for the Dunkin Donuts gift cards, won by Dolores Ginier and Billie Dietz.
Brooke Crochet Club to meet scheduled to meet Nov. 16
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Crochet Club will meet at noon Nov. 16.
The group is for adults, beginners through experts. Participants should bring their own supplies and projects. For those who need help, someone will be available to offer assistance or instruction.

WVNCC offers free lunches
for veterans at both campuses
West Virginia Northern Community College will be offering free lunches for all military veterans at noon on Nov. 15 and Dec. 13 at its Weirton campus and Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 at its Wheeling campus.
Those planning to attend are asked to make reservations at least two days before those days by e-mailing veterans@wvncc.edu.
Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry is scheduled for Nov. 17
STEUBENVILLE -- Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry will be held on Nov. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

on holiday dishes Nov. 18
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Recipe Club will meet at noon Nov. 18 and share their holiday recipes.
The group is open to adults, with participants invited to share recipes and samples.
