plans Pets Photos with Santa
WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Humane Foundation will present Pet Photos with Santa on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
It will be held at America's Wholesale Outlet, Weirton Plaza. All proceeds benefit homeless animals.
Carpenters' Christmas concert
on Sunday at Center for Hope
WINTERSVILLE -- The Center for Hope, 702 Main St., Wintersville, will be the site of the Haley Joy Gaglione "A Carpenters Christmas Concert" on Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m., according to an announcement by Wintersville United Methodist Church.

Library to show how to create diamond painting holiday card
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will offer instruction to adults in creating a diamond painting Christmas card at 11 a.m. and again at 5 p.m. on Dec. 1.
Materials will be provided, but seating is limited, so reservations for the free class should be made by calling (304) 737-1551 or visiting https://brookecountylibs.org/programming-registration.
Two events this week for Weirton Senior Center
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Senior Center, 3425 Main St., Weirton, has two events happening this week.
The first is its bake sale, rummage sale and book sale, according to Tammy Margetic, director. That will be held Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.
The dance will be held Friday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a covered dish. The $5 admissions includes hot dog and punch plus the cover dishes and dessert.
Senior fitness classes offered in Follansbee, Wellsburg
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength training class for older adults.
Participants start lifting light weights, usually while seated and can work at their own pace. They should bring a set of light dumbbells, a stretch band and water to drink.
The video fitness classes are held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, 844 Main St., and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, 945 Main St. Those interested in participating in the free classes should register by calling (304) 737-1551 ext. 106.
Weirton Church Women Unit
to hold luncheon Dec. 9
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Church Women Unit will gather for a pre-Christmas luncheon at 11 a.m. on Dec. 9 at St. Thomas Church, Three Springs Drive, Weirton.
Carol Village will serve as hostess.
Members are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert and also a pair of gloves or a toboggan for an adult to be given for the homeless.

Holy Trinity Philoptochos
planning Dec. 6 food sale
STEUBENVILLE -- Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society will have its next gyro sale on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The church is located at 300 S. Fourth St., Steubenville.
The gyros are $9 each with the kouroulakia being $8 a dozen. There also will be sweet bread, $9; grape leaves, three for $3.50; spanakopita, $3.50; bakalava, $3 each; and kourambiedes, $1.
Patrons may phone order to (740) 282-9835 or by Fax to (7400 282-2091. Allow a minimum of 20 minutes for all orders.
There is free delivery on orders of four or more gyros. Walk-ins also are welcomed.
United Mine Workers Local 103 scheduled to meet Saturday
HOPEDALE -- The United Mine Workers of America Local 1304 will meet on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Hopedale American Legion, located at 48225 Rabbit Road, Hopedale.
St. Joseph's Christmas cookie walk is scheduled for Saturday
WEIRTON -- St. Joseph's Christmas cookie walk will be held Saturday in the school cafeteria, located on Michael Way, Weirton.
The hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A wide variety of cookies will be available at $9 per dozen with cash sales only.
The fundraiser benefits the teachers of St. Joseph the Worker Grade School.
