Steubenville High School Class of 1959 plans Dec. 14 meeting
STEUBENVILE -- Members of Steubenville High School's Class of 1959 held their Thanksgiving luncheon at Froehlich's Classic Corner in Steubenville with 20 in attendance.
Norina Eroshevich gave the blessing, and the group shared gratitude for one another and their many blessings. Knowing that some classmates and families have served their country, Paul Brandt reminded those present of a free dinner being provided for veterans and spouses on Veterans Day at Wintersville United Methodist Church.
The group's next luncheon will be held Dec. 14 at Froehlich's Classic Corner, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tom Maxwell will provide the origination of "The Night Before Christmas." For reservations, call Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234. All are welcome.
Children's Christmas party Dec. 10 at Mingo Knights hall
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall will be the site of the John "Wiz" Fabian Memorial Children's Christmas party on Dec. 10, beginning at noon.
The free event is co-sponsored by John Scott Fabian in memory of his father, the late John "Wiz" Fabian, and the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361.
It is open to children from ages zero to 12 and includes a light lunch and a visit from Santa.
Reservations are needed. Attendees are advised to text (740) 457-6762 or e-mail mingocouncil4361@gmail.com to do so, providing information on how many are coming and their names.
Brooke County Senior Center has Christmas party Monday
FOLLANSBEE -- The Brooke County Senior Center, located at 948 Main St., Follansbee, will hold its Christmas party for senior citizens on Monday.
Starting at 11:30 a.m., the party will include bingo from noon to 3 p.m. and an ugly Christmas sweater contest. The center will provide shredded roast beef sandwiches. Attendees should bring a covered dish.
Blessed Sacrament CWC Christmas bazaar Saturday
WINTERSVILLE -- The Catholic Women's Club of Blessed Sacrament Parish, 852 Main St., Wintersville, will be holding its Christmas bazaar on Saturday in upper Sargus Hall from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be various items for sale "at bargain prices from $1 to $5," a club spokesperson noted. There also will be a Christmas bake sale offering pies, cakes, cookies, fudge "and other goodies."
Holiday dance to benefit
Wellsburg fire department
WELLSBURG -- Ron Music and Chris Knicely of Music Done Knicely, the disc jockeys who raised money for local parks with a retro dance this summer, will return for an Ugly Sweater Christmas Throwback Party from 8 p.m. to midnight Dec. 10 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.
Admission is $10 for the dance, which will raise funds for equipment for the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Members of the department will be selling food during the event, which will include prize drawings and a Chinese auction. Those interested in donating prizes for the auction may contact the dance's organizers at Ugly Sweater Throwback Party.
Everyone is encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater for the occasion.
