retirees plan December lunch
STEUBENVILLE -- Steubenville City Schools retirees met for lunch at Margaret's Cafe in Toronto on Nov. 10.
Various cards were signed. The collection for the group's Christmas charity for needy adults is continuing. Those unable to make the December lunch, can get their donation to Becky Bryan or Linda Holub by Dec. 15.
December's lunch will be at Dee Jay's BBQ Ribs and Grille in Weirton on Dec. 8. January's lunch is Jan. 12 at the Ville in Steubenville. February's lunch will be Feb. 9 at Naples Spaghetti House in Steubenville.
All retirees are welcome to attend. "If you haven't been called, you just need to show up at 12:30 p.m.," a spokesperson explained.
'Samaritan' to be screened
at Brooke County library
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will show "Samaritan," a PG-13 rated movie about a superhero coming out of retirement, at noon Dec. 9.
And it will show "Rumble," a PG-rated animated film about an aspiring monster wrestling coach based on the graphic novel, "Monster on the Hill."
Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch to the noon film.

Pets photos with Santa Claus happens Saturday in Weirton
WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Humane Foundation will present Pet Photos with Santa on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
It will be held at America's Wholesale Outlet, Weirton Plaza. All proceeds benefit homeless animals.
Mingo Senior Center having
Christmas party on Dec. 17
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Junction Senior Center, located at 663 Commercial Ave., Mingo Junction, will be holding its Christmas party on Dec. 17 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Those planning to attend should RSVP by Dec. 14 by calling Fred Pernick, president, at the center at (740) 535-1639 or Diane Pernick, secretary, at (740) 275-2798.
The meal will include ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, a fruit tray and cranberry sauce. donations of food would be appreciated. Door prizes, a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing and "a few other surprises" will be part of the festivities.
Special Christmas music will be provided by Rich Grimm.
Christmas concert on Dec. 10 at Richmond United Methodist
RICHMOND -- A Christmas concert featuring the music of George Kokos and the K Band will be held on Dec. 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richmond United Methodist Church, located at 112 S. Sugar St.
The concert is being sponsored by the Richmond Community Historical Society. A love offering will be taken.
There will be refreshments in the fellowship hall after the concert.

Mingo church accepting orders for nutrolls with pickup Dec. 9
MINGO JUNCTION -- Limited orders for nutrolls are being taken at First United Presbyterian Church, 650 McLister Ave., Mingo Junction.
They are $10. Orders can be placed by calling (740) 535-2027 or (740) 535-0309. Callers are asked to leave their name and phone number and the number of nutrolls requested.
Pickup will be at the church on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
