Membership drive under way for Brooke Democratic Women
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Democratic Women and the Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee met Jan. 12 at the Brooke County Public Library in Wellsburg.
Activities for the new year were discussed, and the annual membership drive is under way for the BCDW.
Membership is $10. Women must be a resident of Brooke County. The meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the library in Wellsburg, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Church Women United Weirton Unit having planning session
WEIRTON -- A 2023 Church Women United Weirton Unit planning session is scheduled for Feb. 3 at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly, 3000 Weir Ave., Weirton, beginning at 11 a.m.
All members are asked to attend so discussion on upcoming events can be held and committee vacancies can be filled. "We also remind each local church to report with the yearly assessment of $20," a spokesperson noted.

Weir High Class of 1970 plans monthly dinner for Wednesday
WEIRTON -- Members of the Weir High Class of 1970 will hold their monthly dinner on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Mario's Restaurant, 3806 Main St., Weirton.
All classmates and their spouses or guests are invited to attend.
Pastoral duties at Rush Run Chapel for Monogioudis
RAYLAND -- Effective Monday, Pastor Jim Monogioudis will assume the pastoral duties for the Rush Run Community Chapel.
He will continue pastoral duties at the Yorkville Methodist Church along with serving as chaplain at the Wheeling Medical Park and East Ohio Regional Hospital. He also serves as chaplain of the Bellaire High School football team.
Rummage, book, puzzle sale rescheduled at Weirton Center
WEIRTON -- Tammy Margetic, director of the Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., Weirton, has announced that the rummage, book and puzzle sale has been rescheduled for Feb. 1-Feb.3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It had been scheduled for Jan. 23 and Jan 25. If Brooke and Hancock schools are closed because of the weather, the center is closed also.
Sweethearts Dinner and Dance
Feb. 11 at Steubenville Legion
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ladies Auxiliary of the Steubenville American Legion Argonne Post 33 in Steubenville welcomes all American Legion members and their guests to the Sweetheart Dinner and Dance happening Feb. 11.
It will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Legion located at 808 N. Fifth St., Steubenville.
The cost is $10 per person with signup and payment needed by a reservation deadline of Feb. 6. For information, call (740) 282-9851. The dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and include pasta, meatball, salad, bread and butter, fruits and dessert. The Russ Buchanan Band will be playing a variety of country and rock music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The festivities will include a 50-50 drawing in addition to a gift card drawing and other special drawing.
