MINGO JUNCTION -- The Jefferson County Township Association held its annual Christmas banquet recently at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall -- an event that included the presentation of special awards.

The Township Official of the Year -- the highest honor the Jefferson County Township Association bestows each year -- was presented to Kevin Walker, a Wayne Township trustee. Andrew Henry received the Hometown Leadership Award, recognizing his work as the health commissioner for the Jefferson County Health Department.

And Judy Greer, former Salem Township fiscal officer, was acknowledged for her many years of service to the township.

Scott Fabian served as master of ceremony, beginning the evening by welcoming the 230 trustees, elected officials and guests in attendance. The Rev. Mike Bongart gave the invocation and the benediction. Joe Adamovich introduced the event sponsors and thanked them for their financial support. Fabian recognized the elected officials, neighboring county officials and Ohio Township Association board members who were present.

Completing the evening was the presentation of door prizes and announcing the winner of the 50/50 drawing.
