JVS awards winners in Spotlight on Skills

BLOOMINGDALE -- Jefferson County Joint Vocational School highlighted student knowledge and recognized those who proved their mettle during the annual Spotlight on Skills competition.

Students participated in academic and lab-related contests on Jan. 6 and Jan. 9 with the top-placing individuals and teams awarded in 41 categories during an assembly in the school commons on Jan. 10.

JVS Supervisor/Assistant Principal Gabrielle Wilson announced the recipients with Supervisor Principal Andy Long and school staff doling out gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates to the winners. Those recipients will advance to regional and state competitions with an opportunity to head to the nationals. Organizations including FFA, Business Professionals of America, Health Occupations Students of America and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America conducted separate events while community professionals from industry, trade associations and labor organizations assisted as judges.
