NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Alpha Tau Chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators, held its March meeting at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland.
Amy Hannahs, president, presided at the eeting where Fran Jones gave the thought for the day, a St. Patrick's Day reading from "Walking in Grace."
Secretary Velda Icard took roll call. The minutes were approved as distributed. Treasurer Angela Cunningham gave the financial report. Officer and committee reports were given.
Hannahs reminded members to bring their change collections for the scholarship fund to the April meeting. She announced that the international convention will be held July 13-16 in Kansas City, Mo., and the W.Va. State Fun Day is May 6 in Fairmont.
Special ceremonies were held to initiate new members Michelle Lewis, Mary Lou Martindill, Cara McMahan and Angela Cunningham.
Recognized were Silver Sisters, 25 years of membership, Fran Jones and Diane Bowers. Rita Schmitt, Sapphire Sister, 35 years of membership; Michelle McHaffie, Silver Sister, 25 years of membership; and Pam Robinson, Violet Sister, 10 years of membership, were recognized but unable to attend the meeting.
After the business meeting, members participated in a silent auction with proceeds donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Hostesses were Cara McMahan and Angela Cunningham.
