Singspiration benefit Sunday
at Toronto First UMC to aid
residents in East Palestine
TORONTO -- A singspiration benefit for the people of East Palestine is being organized for Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Toronto, located at Sixth and Main streets.
The performances by a number of participants will begin at 6 p.m.
The benefit is being sponsored by members of the church to help Centenary and Emmanuel United Methodist Churches of East Palestine help their neighbors with expenses from the train derailment disaster, according to Earl Tuttle, who explained a love offering will be collected to help with these expenses.
"We will feature music from First UMC Chancel Choir, Blessed, Tammy Spicer, Friends Musical Ministry, Thomas Graham, Doc Roe and Sweet Harmony, Anaphero Praise Team, Makin' a Joyful Noise Quartet and possibly more to be announced," Tuttle noted.

East Springfield Community
Center having dinner Thursday
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Community Recreation and Service Center will host a fundraiser dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
The menu will be baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, desserts and a drink. Patrons can dine in or get take-out. The phone number is (740) 543-3700.

The center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Hall.
Blood drive on March 21 in memory of Theresa M. Royce
RICHMOND -- A blood drive in memory of Theresa M. Royce will be held March 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lighthouse Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 336 W. Main St., Richmond.

Royce fought a long battle with leukemia and was a blood recipient. With this blood drive her family seeks to give back in her memory."

CEOS Newview Chapter taking applications for scholarship
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Newview Chapter of the WVU Community Educational Outreach Service has announced that its second-annual $500 scholarship will be presented to one deserving Hancock County senior in 2023.
Applications are open to seniors in any of the county's three high schools, as well as to seniors who have been home-schooled.
According to CEOS President Becky Wiegers, applicants must have a grade-point average of not less than 2.5, and submit an essay of at least 500 words on the topic "Community Improvement through Volunteerism."
Applications can be obtained by calling the WVU Hancock County Extension Office in New Cumberland at (304) 564-3805. They must be completed and returned, with supporting documents, no later than April 21 to: Scholarship, Hancock County Extension, P.O. Box 457, New Cumberland, WV 26047.
The Community Educational Outreach Service is one of several volunteer organizations of the West Virginia University Extension Service. Its mission is to strengthen individuals and families through continuing education, community service and leadership development.
