at various library branches
STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced the following lineup of programs and activities at its various locations.
Main Library, (740) 282-9782
Children: Register for Story Hour, which is scheduled for children ages 2-6 on Thursdays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 11 a.m.
Easter STEM projects such as peep boats, egg launchers and a volcano egg will be done at the library on April 8 at 2 p.m. Registration is required.
Adults: Get creative by painting a wine glass on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The design will be in relation to and observance of Autism Awareness Month. Registration is required.
Stop in for free Tai Chi classes that practice on Tuesdays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 10 a.m. Wear comfortable clothing. The class is led by certified instructor Mike Turrentine.

Children: Knowledge of the alphabet is a strong predictor of reading ability. Play with toys and games while promoting an important early literacy skill at Play and Learn the Alphabet, for ages 2-6, on Monday at 11:30 a.m.
Hop into the library to make a bunny or chick craft on April 6 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Children: Pick up a Grab-and-Go Story Time on Monday while supplies last. A bag will include the book "Like a Windy Day" by Frank Asch.
Grab-and-Go Craft will be ready to take home on April 7. Pick one up while supplies last.

Children: Go to Tot Time to listen to stories, songs and do an art activity. It's for children ages 2-4 and is offered on Mondays, April 3, 24 and May 1 at 4 p.m.; Tuesdays, April 4, 25 and May 2 at 10:30 a.m.; and Wednesdays, April 5, 26 and May 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Books, songs and rhymes are shared at Babygarten on April 6 at 10:30 a.m. It's for babies birth to 2.

Starkdale Presbyterian plans Easter egg hunt on April 8
WINTERSVILLE -- Starkdale Presbyterian Church at 4600 Sunset Blvd., next to Wendy's in Wintersville, is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt on April 8 from noon to 2 p.m.
Children in grades five and under are invited to participate.
The Rev. Carl Moore will give an Easter message using the resurrection eggs. Other activities include crafts, snacks and a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny. The program will begin in the fellowship hall on the bottom level. Attendees are advised to use the lower parking lot.

Brooke Senior center offers
various activities each month
FOLLANSBEE -- The Brooke County Senior Center, at 948 Main St., offers a variety of activities each month.
They include bunco games from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, euchre games organized by retired members of United Steelworkers Local 1190 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, bingo from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and line dancing at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.
For those who are 60 and older, there also are monthly shopping trips to Steubenville and trips to appointments at Pittsburgh area Veterans Affairs medical facilities four days a week. For information, call (304) 527-3410.

Mothman part of this lesson
NEW CUMBERLAND -- Join with the Newview CEOS volunteers as they learn about the history of Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Dinah Carpenter will present the lesson, which covers the legendary Mothman, the battle designated by Congress as the first battle of the American Revolution, Chief Cornstalk's dying curse on the area, the Silver Bridge disaster and more.
The meeting will be held Wednesday at Hancock County Senior Services on Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland. It will begin at noon, following the senior center's featured lunch of sloppy joes accompanied by macaroni salad and fruit at 11 a.m.
There is no charge to attend the presentation, but for those who want to join the club for lunch as well, the normal senior center fee of $6 will apply.
The Community Educational Outreach Service is a WVU Extension-supported membership organization open to the public with a focus on member education and community service. Retro dance April 15 to benefit Brooke-Hancock Relay for Life
WELLSBURG -- Music Done Knicely will hold a retro dance benefiting the Brooke-Hancock American Cancer Society Relay for Life on April 15 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall on 12th Street.
Disc jockeys Ron Music and Chris Knicely will be playing music from the 70s, 80s and 90s from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Quarter auction at Moose Lodge to benefit county fair
WELLSBURG -- A quarter auction to benefit the Brooke County Fair will be held April 16 at the Wellsburg Moose Lodge.
Admission is $5, which includes one paddle. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., with the bidding to start at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Brooke Hills Park clubhouse or by visiting www.brookecountyfair.com.
Retro Night dinner concert April 28 at Sycamore Center
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Valley Youth Network/Sycamore Youth Center will be hosting a "Retro Night" dinner concert on April 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville.
Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com or call (740) 409-2986. Seating is limited, and full tables of eight are available for $160 with individual seats for $20. The dinner buffet will include chicken breast, salad, potato and dessert.
The lineup includes a number of Valley's Got Talent winners, including Olivia Huval and the Brookes Sisters. The artists will sing songs from artists of the past (before the year 2000) and dress up like the artists and perform their song.
