ADK Alpha Beta Chapter sets May 2 picnic meeting

STEUBENVILLE -- The Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority met April 11 at Malara Hall in Steubenville with President Linda Lenzi presiding and welcoming members.
Cathy Henry introduced guest speaker Flora VerStraten-Merrin, founder of Friends of Beatty Park, who shared her memories of enjoying the park during her growing-up years and her interest and involvement in seeing it restored. Many people are using the park now, she told the group.
Lenzi conducted the business meeting with minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer's report presented and approved. Members completed a worksheet using ADK information. World Understanding Chairman Peggy Pyle presented information on several national parks in the world.
Money was collected for donation to Valley Hospice based in Rayland.
Henry and Vicki Nurczyk served as hostesses.
The next meeting will be a May 2 picnic and cookout at the Unionport shelter house, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Michele Fabbro, Peggy Pyle and Paula DiOrio will serve as hostesses. Members who were not at the April meeting but plan to attend the picnic are asked to contact Pyle or Fabbro to see what they need to bring. Those not planning to attend are asked to let Fabbro or Pyle know.
The theme will be "Picnic."
