Weirton Lions Club to honor Nick Tranto with Heart of a Lion Award at April 18 event
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Lions Club's first Heart of a Lion Award banquet will honor Nick Tranto on April 18.
The first event will be held in the banquet room at Giovanni's Restaurant, 3013 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, beginning at 6 p.m.
The cost is $20 per person. The menu is roast beef, chicken, salad, roasted potatoes, green beans, beverages and dessert. Those planning to attend should RSVP by Monday by contacting Lion Bernice Pitcock by phone at (304) 797-8374 or by e-mail at bpit@comcast.net.

Hannah's House of Grace
having women's conference
STEUBENVILLE -- Hannah's House of Grace, a local nonprofit group that provides transitional housing for women, is having a women's conference on April 29 at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville.
"Blossoming: Becoming the Woman God Has Created" is the theme of the event that will begin with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m.
Toni Hubbard, the group's founder, explained that she started the organization to help women overcome the challenge of finding safe housing and a support system when they leave jail or a drug rehab facility.
"Too often, these women end up back out on the same streets and find themselves back in their old patterns unless someone intervenes," Hubbard said. The group hopes the upcoming conference will create awareness about Hannah's House of Grace as well as provide a time of inspirational fellowship for all women in the community.
In addition to a special workshop for teenage girls, there will be small group sessions, including "Blossoming on the Inside: Learning to Love Yourself," "Blossoming on the Outside: Caring for the Skin You Are In" and "Developing Your Personal Style.
The keynote speaker is Minister Kimberly Hubbard.

Follansbee Community Days
bingo party set for April 29
FOLLANSBEE -- A Follansbee Community Days bingo party will be held April 29 at the Follansbee Community House, Main Street, Follansbee.
Doors open at noon, with bingo beginning at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 for 20 games, three cards per game. There is an additional fee for cover-all, the Chinese auction and other on-site fundraisers.

'Puss in Boots,' 'A Man Called Otto' to be shown in Wellsburg
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-rated animated film, "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," featuring characters from the Shrek films, at 5 p.m. April 13 and the PG-13 rated drama, "A Man Called Otto," based on the novel, "A Man Called Ove," at noon April 14.

Colliers Fire Department plans pancake breakfast April 15
COLLIERS -- The Colliers Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 15 in the fire hall.
The cost is $7, with three options: pancakes, sausage and eggs; waffles, sausage and eggs; or biscuit and gravy and eggs.
The price also includes orange juice or coffee.
Children under 6 will eat free.
