Hannah's House of Grace plans
women's conference April 29
STEUBENVILLE -- Hannah's House of Grace, a local nonprofit group that provides transitional housing for women, is having a women's conference on April 29 at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville.
"Blossoming: Becoming the Woman God Has Created" is the theme of the event that will begin with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m.
Toni Hubbard, the group's founder, explained that she started the organization to help women overcome the challenge of finding safe housing and a support system when they leave jail or a drug rehab facility.
"Too often, these women end up back out on the same streets and find themselves back in their old patterns unless someone intervenes," Hubbard said. The group hopes the upcoming conference will create awareness about Hannah's House of Grace as well as provide a time of inspirational fellowship for all women in the community.
The keynote speaker is Minister Kimberly Hubbard.
There will be three individual sessions for adults, three for teens and one group session.
The adult sessions are: "Blossoming on the Outside: Self Care," "Blossoming on the Outside: Finding Your Personal Style" and "Blossoming on the Inside: Forgiving Yourself and Others."
The group session topic is "Learning to Love Yourself."

Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry
distribution set for April 20
STEUBENVILLE -- Grace's Cupboard Food Pantry will hold a distribution on April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
It will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.

DKG Alpha Mu chapter hears program on Founders Day
WINTERSVILLE -- The Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met April 1 at Starkdale Presbyterian Church in Wintersville with 31 in attendance.
Minutes from the last meeting and the treasurer's report were approved. A thank-you was received from Katie Long in appreciation of a donation made.
Members were reminded that dues are $68 and should be paid by June 15 to Mary Barnes and that the state convention is coming up. The group discussed several topics related to the teachers retirement system.
Carole Thorne from the hospitality committee read "The History of the Easter Egg."
Under membership and necrology, Madison Hope Taylor from Harrison will be a new member. The necrology service for Linda Anderson will be conducted next month.
The music committee discussed Easter performances around the valley.
A $194 donation will be made to the WEBA Food Pantry. The next meeting donation will go toward Carrollton Warriors Back-to-School Bash.
The chapter's next meeting is May 6 at the Kilgore Church, which will include the necrology service, the induction of new members and discussion of items to possibly address at the June 15 administrative committee meeting.
The program was presented by the Founders Day committee, which included information on the woen who were instrumental in founding DKG.
The meeting closed with a mother/daughter testimonial by Edwina and Diana McElwain. Cards of encouragement for written for future teachers.
Musician, historian to appear
at Brooke museum Sunday
WELLSBURG -- Local musician and teacher Aaron Carey will present the program, "Tracing the Musical Heritage of the Ohio Valley," at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brooke County Museum and Cultural Center at 600 Main St.
Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
Crocheting club to meet
April 19 at Brooke library
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Crocheting Club will meet at noon April 19.
The free club is open to all adults interested in crocheting, whether they are a beginner or experienced, and help is available if needed.

WELLSBURG -- A representative of Necco, a local foster care agency, will be at the Brooke County Public Library to share information about foster parenting between noon and 2 p.m. April 19.

Library to hold craft class
for adults twice on April 20
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will hold a craft class for adults at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 20.
