Put motto into action

The Newellies 4-H Club pledged their hands to larger service for Earth Day. Working throughout Newell, the club spent three hours hand-picking trash throughout their community. Club Leaders Nicole Hurst and Amber Kennedy and their Extension Agent Zachary White, worked alongside club members Zoey Mayhew, T.J. Lockhart, Axel Willard, Bones Bailey, Michael Gunn, Charlene Hurst, Christian Hurst, Kyndra Shuman and Donavan Mahon to collect nearly 20 bags of trash and gave more than 32 combined hours of service to helping clean up their community. “Service is one of the best parts of 4-H,” commented White. “These kids put our motto to action ‘To Make the Best Better’ by cleaning up their community.” Anyone interested in joining the Newellies or any of the 4-H Clubs can contact the Hancock County Extension Office at (304) 564-3805 or e-mail White at zlwhite@mail.wvu.edu.
