MINGO JUNCTION -- The St. Agnes Catholic Women's Club met April 18, beginning the meeting with President Theresa Madden giving the prayer, leading the pledge and saying grace prior to the meal.
The luncheon, served by Michele Fabbro, Kathy Flippo and Michelle Trikones, was followed by roll call, with all officers present and 30 members in attendance.
The president thanked the hostess for the meeting's luncheon and thanked those who helped during the April 16 reception for Michael Danielson, who was received into the Catholic church on Easter Sunday.
Madden announced the next meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Froehlich's Classic Corner and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention will be held June 7 at Holy Family Church with the deanery in charge of breakfast. The volunteers for this event include Paula Diorio, Theresa Jurasko, Jean Mazik and Mary See, along with Debbie Riccardo, Carrie Petrozzi, Tickie Dickey and Karen Guiliani.
Several members indicated they received responses regarding cards that were sent to the sisters, with Madden stating the altar cloth the club donated was finished and used at Easter. A Mass for Franciscan sisters -- living or deceased, who have served at St. Agnes, will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 13.
A lunch was held for First Communicants and their families after practice Saturday. Those on the committee are Diorio, Flippo, Jeannette Panebianco and Guiliani. Riccardo was in charge of getting a gift for each communicant.
Mazik reported for the Leadership Commission, citing the group is suggesting they concentrate on being welcoming at meetings and introducing themselves to anyone new. She then passed out the gift which Flippo purchased for each new member -- a charm engraved with, "Sisters in Christ, St. Agnes Catholic Women's Club." New members also will receive a charm, it was noted.
Madden reported on the committee meeting held April 12, noting that a mother/daughter/ladies tea will be held at 2:30 May 21 at St. Agnes Hall. A form was circulated for members to sign to help with the event. A flier was created by Riccardo and Trikones. Emcees for the afternoon will be Riccardo and Giuliani.
"The Day of Spirituality held on March 25 in St. Clairsville, was a wonderful experience," Madden said. "Inspiring talks were given by Mother Della Marie and Sister Mary Rose, Franciscan TORs from Toronto."
Officials noted Pat Cramblett won the 50/50 drawing following Eileen Moody's, "kind gesture to decline," citing she had won the drawing last month and wanted someone else to receive it. The meeting concluded in prayer and a blessing by the Rev. JamesDunfee.
