Hancock County democratic women’s meetings

WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Democratic Executive Committee held their monthly meeting May 16 in the T. Kosciusko Hall at B4 Bar and Grill in Weirton.

Chairman Kathy Link called the meeting to order, welcoming those in attendance. She led the pledge of allegiance and introduced guest speaker, Teresa Toriseva, a Wheeling attorney elected first vice-chair of the West Virginia Democratic party. She spoke on the legislation and goals of the group.

Following the presentation, silent attendance was taken and reports were read and approved.

The executive committee continued their plans for a summer Picnic and winter fundraiser.

As the meeting adjourned, it was noted the next meeting will be held at 5 p.m. June 20 in the downstairs of B4 Bar and Grill.

Following the meeting of the executive committee, the Hancock County Democratic Women assembled for their monthly meeting. President Teresa McCombs called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance.

The secretary's report was read and approved.

The treasurer's report will be filed for audit.

A motion was made to change the meeting date from the third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday. In doing so, meetings would immediately follow those of the executive committee.

McCombs advised members the group can volunteer at the Community Bread Basket on Wednesdays and Fridays. She commented the information was provided by Program Administrator Tara Shepherd, who said she would be willing to speak during the group's July meeting.

Officials stated the executive committee will include the democratic women in their summer picnic and winter fundraiser.

As the meeting adjourned, it was noted the next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the downstairs of B4 Bar and Grill.

The Democratic women will host a membership drive Tuesday at B4 Bar and Grill and welcome new members.

Prospective members must be a Hancock County democratic woman and the $10 annual dues are payable upon joining.
