TORONTO -- The Toronto Sunrise Seniors welcomed two new members during its May 26 meeting at Karaffa Recreation Center. Dale and Karen Martin were welcomed by President Barbara Pritts, who also welcomed guest Alice DeFrank to the meeting.
Following an opening prayer, the group enjoyed a meal and fellowship. The kitchen committee comprised of Dorothy Pavelka, Luck Timko and Joyce Gribben were thanked for their efforts in food preparation and table decorations.
Members recited the pledge of allegiance and Laura Sheets, secretary, read April's meeting minutes. Treasurer Judy Sabol provided the financial report that was filed for audit while Social Secretary Marlene Garrett announced May birthdays and anniversaries. She stated the June kitchen committee will consist of Hank and Laura Sheets and Debbie Luivisi.
Pritts reminded members the summer picnic will be held July 14 at Stratton Park. Two individuals were remembered under the health report while members were reminded of travel opportunities with the Toronto seniors citizens group.
The group will be traveling to the Strip district in Pittsburgh in June, the Smokey Mountains in September and to Amish country in October. The evening's activity included a numerical trivia game which was won by Karen Martin. The 50/50 drawing winners were Mary Ann Landerfield and Paul Sherwood. Following adjournment, members enjoyed playing bingo. Joe Radvansky called the numbers. Winners were Frank Marino, Garrett, Pavelka, Nancy Bodrog, Marsha McConnell, and Phyllis Smith. The next meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Friday.
