All-you-can-eat breakfast for veterans
WEIRTON -- The Weirton American Legion Auxiliary will hold a fundraiser breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the post hall, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.
The all-you-can-eat menu includes: Sausage gravy over biscuits, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice. The cost is $8 per person, $5 for those under 10 years of age and no cost will be charged for children under 5.
The breakfast is open to the public, with proceeds going toward supporting veterans.
Museum to hold open house
RICHMOND -- The Richmond Community Historical Society will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Crew House Museum on Main Street in Richmond.
The event will include an opportunity to view three rooms dedicated specifically to Jefferson Union High School and featuring memorabilia such as annuals and the nutcracker.
The open house is free of charge; however, donations are welcome, organizers stated. All area residents are invited to attend.
Library to hold book club discussion
STEUBENVILLE -- There will be a book club discussion for adults at 10:30 a.m. July 26 at the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County's Main Library, located at 407 S. Fourth St.
The special guest author will be Annette Dashofy, who will discuss her books. She is an author of mystery, suspense and thriller books.

Blessing of the Animals in Richmond
RICHMOND -- A blessing of the animals ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Richmond Methodist Church, located at 122 S. Sugar St., Richmond. The event is being hosted by the church's outreach committee. The blessing will be led by the Rev. Tom Scott.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. in the church parking lot, where doughnuts and beverages will be available. There will be free "Pets and their People" photo opportunities and door prize drawings.
Donations made will benefit the Jefferson County Humane Society.
SHS Alumni Association to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Alumni Association will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Scaffidi's Restaurant and Tavern.
Book club to meet
RAYLAND -- The Books on Tap Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 30 at the Hightower Brewing Co. in Rayland.

StoryWalk's new book coming
STEUBENVILLE -- A new book for the library's StoryWalk at Beatty Park begins Aug. 1. Families can read, "Be a Tree" by Maria Gianferrari and Felicita Sala.
Those reading the book can stop by the Main Library, located at 407 S. Fourth St., to pick up a children's prize, officials stated.
Garage sale coming to St. Joseph's
WEIRTON -- St. Joseph the Worker School's Christian mothers are holding their annual garage sale Aug. 3-5. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 3-4 and 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 5.
Anyone interested in donating reusable household items such as furniture, children's items or other items proper for a garage sale can drop them off at the school's gymnasium, located at 151 Michael Way, Weirton either July 31 or Aug. 1.
Officials noted items which can not be accepted for this garage sale are clothing, old computers and large electronics.

Family Fun Day coming to park
STEUBENVILLE -- A family reunion Family Fun Day event has been scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 5 at the North End Park on North Seventh Street.
The free day of fun with family and friends is being held by the African-American Heritage Festival committee.
Business and food vendors will be on hand as part of the day's activities and events, as well as a basketball game, a memorial balloon release, a bounce house and live music. A dance competition will take place by Latina Featherston and Soma Fitness.
Seeking vendors for Halloween bash
STEUBENVILLE -- Beyond Kids LLC will be presenting a Halloween Bash at Jeffco Workshop, located 250 John Scott Highway. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Oct. 28. Activities will include candy stations, a bounce house, dancing, pizza, face painting and a costume contest.
