The Hancock County Democratic Executive Committee held their monthly meeting June 20 at B4 Burgers in Weirton.
Chairman Kathy Link called the meeting to order, welcoming those attendance.
Silent attendance was taken, after which Link led the pledge to the flag.
The secretary's report was read and approved; however, there was no treasurer's report due to the treasurer's absence.
It was decided by the executive committee and the Democratic women that the August summer picnic be canceled. Officials did not provide a reason as to why. However, the winter fundraiser, which is tentatively set for January, will still be held. Further information will be forthcoming at the July meeting, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday at B4 Burgers. Following the executive committee's meeting, the Hancock County Democratic Women assembled for their monthly meeting. President Teresa McCombs called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance.

All information pertaining to the annual meeting to be held Sept. 15-17 at the Holiday Inn in Weirton, was tabled until Tuesday's meeting.
Tara Shepherd, program administrator of the Community Bread Basket, located on Phillips Street in Weirton, will be Tuesday's guest speaker.
Quilt tickets are available for sale at $1 per ticket before the annual meeting in September. Anyone interested can contact McCombs.
The Democratic women stated they welcome new membership and anyone planning to register as a democrat and who resides in Hancock County is invited to attend one of their monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at B4 Burgers, located at 1801 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.
Anyone may attend if they have not yet registered to vote, officials stated, adding the one must be 18 years of age to join. Annual dues are $10 and payable after joining.
