The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is continuing its summer reading program by offering area residents the opportunity to stop by and take part in various activities and events. The following is a list of upcoming events:

Children: Chalk it up with the library's STEM program at 3 p.m. Aug. 19. Kids will make exploding chalk, DIY sidewalk chalk paint, and chalk by using eggs. Registration is required.
Adena Branch, (740) 320-0009
Children: Stop by to make a whale or shark craft at 5 p.m. Aug. 17.
Brilliant Branch, (740) 314-4309
Children: Stop in to make a suncatcher using glass beads at noon Aug. 19.
Adults: Relax at the library and color pages designed for adults. Supplies are provided for this program at 6 p.m. Aug. 17.
Mount Pleasant (740) 314-4310
Children: Stop by to make a whale or shark craft at 5 p.m. Aug. 14. Adults: Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 to discuss "Farm to Table" by Amanda Flower.

Children: Listen to back-to-school stories at 11 a.m. Aug. 16. This program is geared for children ages 3-5. Parents with children between the ages of birth to 4, will play with toys that promote alphabet knowledge during Play and Learn at 11 a.m. Aug. 18.
Adults: Birth, death and marriage records are basic building blocks of a family tree. Learn how to access these vital records using the library's FamilySearch website. Register now for the 6 p.m. class on Aug. 16.

Play chess at 5:30 p.m. Mondays. All ages are welcome to participate.
Children: A back-to-school story takes place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Children will make a craft, too. Registration is required.
Teens: Make a fidget bracelet at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. Registration is required.
